Description
This was our third overnight photo-shoot of the "ice shoves" in the area in six weeks.The turquoise colored ice is called "blue ice" and forms as the lake surface freezes downward... it was never exposed to the air until it was pushed up over the packed ice... hence the local expression of "ice shove". We were happy with the light but the the north wind was blowing the previous night's snow into our faces. Taken just before sunset at Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin [about an hour and a half north of Green Bay].
